Personal finance for teens

Personal finance and management of money should really start when you are a teenager, when you think about the facts most teens have a job and with a job comes money and responsibilities so for the teenagers in your life or maybe you still are one its time to think about keeping track of your hard earned money. Parents can help their teens to learn about money at this stage of their life, its really the perfect time to get started.

It is a good idea if you are a parent of a teenager to make them pay for things around the house, once they have income coming in then why should they not pay for some things, it keeps them more aware and cautious of their finances. Start out with a budget so you or your teen will be aware of money coming in and just how much is been spent and on what, learn to keep it balanced and to save instead of just spending it all the moment it arrives.

One of the most important things a parent can do is not rush to help their teen if a financial issue arrives, this way your child will be more capable of making it on their own and understand the importance of finances and how if it goes wrong you are on your own. All these things will really open their eyes to the world of finances so when they are 18 they will have a better grasp of everything and be able to make it on their own.
