College Savings for kids!

Posted by elaine | November 25, 2009 .

Having a child go to college is a very important thing as a parent, many start saving when there child is barely out of pre school. The truth is that the sooner you start saving for their education the better. The easiest way is to start saving a little amount of money aside each month, it could be a tiny amount to something larger, anything at all as long as some is been saved.

Be sure to discuss this with your child so that they will understand the importance of saving from a young age and when they get their first paying job they can then contribute to the college fund. It gives them responsibility and makes the while process a lot easier. Sadly for many though, its not as easy as just saving money every month, your expenses could all be gone in weekly shopping, perhaps you have other kids you need to look after and of course bills.

If it is the case that the time is fast approaching and you are not sure you will be able to afford college for your child well there is things you can do. You can complete a free application for federal aid, this can be done by you or your child. The FAFSA will then determine if your application will be accepted and under what terms.

The important thing is that you get your child or children the best education possible, so start saving for the future now and earn the benefits.
